Charumati Stupa
Charumati Stupa was built by the prince Charumati Daughter of Emperor King Ashoka about 2300 yrs ago. It is one of the very important stupa's in Nepal, which was damaged/cracked over looked by the people of Nepal. The renovation of the stupa was started by ven. Tapassi Dhamma, later the founder of Charumati Buddhist Mission Nepal in 2001 and completed in 2002. Chabahil, one of the most important historical place in Kathmandu, Nepal is famous for its Licchavi stupa, called the Charumati Vihara.

The Charumati Stupa is believed to have been constructed 2,300 years back in commemoration of Charumati, the daughter of Emperor Ashoka of Magadh who visited Lumbini and Kathmandu. It is believed that Emperor Ashoka married off his daughter with a Kshetriya Prince of Nepal Devpal during the 14th century.
The book throws light on many unknown aspects of the Charumati Stupa and its historicity.
It would be a resourceful reference material to people who want to study the history and architecture of the Stupa.
The Stupa was renovated seven years back at the initiation of Chairman of the Charumati Mission, Bhikkhi Tapassi Dhamma.Various distinguished persons have suggested taking steps in including the Charumati Stupa, a Buddhist temple located at Chabahil in Kathmandu, into the list of World Heritage Sites.
In their messages and articles contributed to a research study entitled 'The 2300-years-old Historic Charumati Stupa: An Analytical Study', President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse, scholar on culture Satya Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor of the Lumbini Buddhist University Dr. Triratna Manandhar and the ambassadors of India, Japan, Sri Lanka and Thailand have drawn the attention of UNESCO and related bodies for including the Chabahil Stupa in the list of world heritage sites.
The study was commissioned by the Charumati Buddhist Mission Nepal and it was conducted by Junu Basukala Ranjeetkar, a post-graduate student of Buddhist Studies.

ReplyDeleteAfter the earth quake and rebuild the Charumati Stupa. There is no any organization has comes to support and development on the Charumati Stupa. We are surprised to know by electric media and social media there is so many organization had donated to Charumati Stupa for development. But there is no any organization has comes to support the Charumati Stupa and nothing changing on the Charumati Stupa. There were so many crack and golden plate (which covered the stupa tower) has been wasted. How could they said they had donation for mentation and development to the Charumati Stupa.

We are totally against to all that Bhikki tapasi dharma saying about charumati Stupa and their related. Totally wrong not fear how dare he talking about this with any permissions.,soon we local people and charumati related youth organization will take action on it.soon as soon after this deepawali .
ReplyDeleteToday 2015-11-11 Charumati Stupa Development Association has get meeting with local people.who are lives within 15miter around the Charumati Stupa.
Deletemeeting has focuses to the Tapasi Bhikku Dhamma's commitment .that he has rebuild the Charumati Stupa. which is totally wrong.Charumati Stupa was rebuild by Tibetan monk from India .it was only success to request through the local people and buddies religious.
meeting was ended to take dissection about ,upcoming day any people or any organization must take the association permission to the any program at Charumati Stupa .
